Dai Greene fourth in Diamond League standings

5th place for Dai in Lausanne and 3rd place for David Weir. 9 July 2010

In the seventh meeting in the new Diamond League series, David Weir and Dai Greene were in action in front of a packed stadium in Lausanne on Thursday 8 July.

Following three personal bests in Switzerland just over a week before, David Weir lined up over 1500m against new World Record holder Marcel Hug. After leading through 400m, 800m and 1200m, David was overtaken in the closing stages. He finished third in 3:09.47. The race was won by Marcel Hug in 3:08.38, with Julien Casoli in second place.

His next competition will be the Disability Athletics Challenge in Gateshead on Sunday 11 July, before the Diamond League in Paris next week.

Dai Greene was drawn in lane 8, amongst a field full of Olympic and World Champions in the 400m hurdles, with Felix Sanchez drawn on the lane inside him.

He set another season’s best finishing in an impressive fifth place, in 48.49 seconds. American Bershawn Jackson took the victory in a time of 47.62 seconds.

Dai is now ranked equal fourth in the Diamond League standings and now looks forward to racing over 400m at the Diamond League meeting in Gateshead tomorrow, at the Aviva British Grand Prix.

The Aviva British Grand Prix will be televised live on the BBC from 4.30pm on Saturday.
