Rising star will feature in That Paralympic Show on Saturday. 26 August 2010

Just four days before the two year countdown to the 2012 Paralympic Games, Dan Lucker rounded off his World Junior Games in impressive style with a fifth Gold in the 5000m final on Wednesday.

Defending the U18 world title he won last year, Dan was racing against Under 23 athletes in the combined final and sealed his victory clocking 13:40.03. In second place, was Abdollah Kavian Aktar (UAE) in 13:41.28, an Under 20 athlete.

Dan also took Gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m in the Czech Republic, plus Silver in the 800m.

Reflecting on the World Junior Games, Dan said:

“After missing a large chunk of the winter due to illness I was just happy to be back competing this year. To finish this week off with six medals including five Golds is a really great end to the season!”

Dan, plus his training partner Double Paralympic Champion David Weir, will feature in the first episode of ‘That Paralympic Show’ that starts on Saturday 28 August on C4 at 13.25. The show is a brand new 10 part series for C4, hosted by Rick Edwards and Ade Adepitan, following the journey of GB’s Paralympic athletes on the road to London 2012.
