On European Athletics Athletes Commission. 31 August 2010

Olympic Bronze medallist Tasha Danvers has been elected for the European Athletics Athletes Commission, as the only representative from Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The commission, elected every four years, was decided following voting at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, the most successful Championships for the Aviva GB & NI team in the history of the event.

On hearing the news Tasha said:

“I am proud to be chosen to represent the athletes of Europe on the European Athletics Athletes Commission, which is such a prestigious role, it’s a real honour!

“I hope to have a really positive impact on the work of the Commission, at such a crucial time for our sport at home in the UK and across Europe.

“The performances of our team in Barcelona really put athletics back in the media spotlight and the journey to London 2012 is going to be something special!”
