Parent company of Definitive supporting the team for second Commonwealth Games. 1 October 2010
With a strong team of expert sports lawyers, Dolmans is proud to be the official legal partner of Team Wales as the curtain is raised on the 2010 Commonwealth Games at Sunday’s Opening ceremony in Delhi. It is the second time that Dolmans has been legal partners to Team Wales, as the firm was also partner of the Welsh team in 2006.
Team Wales’ top priority is the health and safety of its athletes and support staff. Dolmans’ senior partner Adrian Oliver said:
“The most important thing for the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales is the safety and welfare of their athletes which is put above everything else.
“A Team Wales advance party went out to Delhi as early as mid September to assess the situation and consulted the organisation as to our views on whether the position of the client, or the athletes might be at risk of prejudice and there was constant evaluation of what the risks might be. Now we are delighted that Team Wales have settled into the athlete village and can look forward to the Games getting underway.”
Chris Jenkins, Director of the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales, said: “We have been hugely impressed by the level of support and the quality of legal advice we’ve received from Dolmans over recent years. At times we are faced with some particularly complex considerations, for which their guidance has proved incredibly valuable.”
Adrian Oliver continued: “The Commonwealth Games is a huge event in the sporting calendar and we are happy to be able to provide legal services to the athletes and administrators representing our country in Delhi.
“It is particularly interesting for us this year as four of the athletes taking part are signed with our sports management agency, Definitive headed up by Jamie Baulch.”
The Definitive athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games are Non Evans (wrestling), David Roberts (Swimming), Tom Haffield (swimming) and Dai Greene (Athletics).
David Roberts is the first athlete to compete on Tuesday 5 October in the 50m Freestyle.
