Non Evans beaten by eventual winner in wrestling qualification. 7 October 2010

Tom Haffield was disappointed to finish fourth in the final of the 400m Individual medley on Thursday 7 October in Delhi, at his second Commonwealth Games.

Following a few days of feeling unwell like many of the English and Welsh swimmers at the Games, Tom gave it everything in the final but came home fourth in a time of 4:17.47. The final was won by Chad Le Clos from South Africa in 4:13.25, followed by Joe Roebuck second in 4:15.84.

He said afterwards: “My belly is not enjoying being in Delhi, it is certainly a very different environment to what we are used to, it’s been tough. I haven’t felt too good since the second day I got here.”

Two times Commonwealth medallist Non Evans, came up against the eventual winner of the 55kg category in her tough qualification round. Non became the first woman to compete in three sports at the Commonwealth Games; Judo, weightlifting and now wrestling.

She was beaten by Geeta from India by 3 – 0, who then took the title later in the day, after winning her semi final.
