The Launch of the ‘Light Up a Life’ appeal will this year be undertaken by David Roberts, 11 times Paralympic Champion and Andy Legg former Cardiff City footballer. David has just returned from a break in New York after competing at his third Commonwealth Games in Delhi where he finished in fourth place.

The annual appeal from George Thomas Hospice Care the local hospice for Cardiff, will take place on Thursday 4 November, beginning at 5.30pm at the Capitol Centre, Cardiff.

Running from early November to Christmas and based in the Capitol Shopping Centre, the Light Up a Life Appeal is a major activity in the fundraising effort of George Thomas Hospice Care.

The campaign needs to raise over £1.2 million each year to run its consultant led clinical service, that at any one time cares for several hundred patients and their families suffering from Cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Light up a Life is a very special opportunity for those wishing to remember their loved ones who have passed away or who are suffering illness.

David Roberts said:

“I will be lighting a candle in memory of my Grandad, who died of cancer 10 years ago. Sadly he never saw me compete at a Paralympic Games so he is always in my thoughts. I am honoured to be attending the launch of the campaign and looking forward to meeting lots of people on the night.”
