New Definitive Client Announces Fight in March 2011. 13 December 2010
Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Champion, Jamie Arthur, has confirmed his plans to repeat the success achieved in 2010 by winning the British Super Bantamweight title in March of next year.
The 31-year-old Welshman will be fulfilling a lifelong dream and competing for the title in what he hopes will be a victory in his home country, as he faces the current holder of the British and Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Championships, Englishman Jason Booth.
With more than 20 years’ boxing experience under his belt, Jamie was a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist in 2002 and this year challenged for the British Featherweight Title. Jamie will now face 33-year-old Booth, who has competed in the flyweight, super flyweight, bantamweight and super bantamweight divisions throughout his career.
At 5ft 4 his opponent, Booth, is a whole 5 inches shorter, something which Jamie deems to be a great advantage heading into the ring.
“Booth is an experienced and talented boxer, but someone that I know I have the ability to beat. I have a number of advantages over him that I’ll be looking to exploit and I’m confident that he is a competitor that I can secure a clear win over.”
The only Welsh boxer to have won both a Commonwealth Games gold medal and a Commonwealth Professional title, Jamie from Pontypridd, is confident that Wales can provide the ideal setting: “To be able to compete for the British title in Wales, with the backing of the welsh supporters behind me, would be fantastic.”
Now represented by Definitive, Jamie will now undertake an intensive training regime ahead of the title bout with Booth.
Jamie Baulch said: “Jamie came to us looking to for support from someone who had experienced professional sports firsthand and someone that would give him the assistance he needed in the lead up to fights like this one. He is an incredibly focused, grounded and determined individual, who I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with and we are confident that he can claim the title he deserves in the New Year”.
