Personal bests in Birmingham and Stoke Mandeville. 1 August 2011

IPC World Champion Nathan Stephens produced two PBs in the javelin and discus at the BWAA Disability Open at Stoke Mandeville on 30 and 31 July, with first and second place respectively. His winning throw of 39.80m in the Javelin was only 5cm off the European record.

David Weir was pleased to produce another win on the track after a short lay off with a shoulder injury, taking victory in the 1500m in a time of 3:04. Dan Lucker finished 3rd in both 200m and 400m.

At the Aviva UK Trials and Championships in Birmingham, Martyn Rooney won the 400m final in a time of 45.44 seconds, a new season’s best. Dai Greene opted to run the 400m instead of the 400m hurdles and finished with a new PB of 45.82 and third place behind Martyn.

Louise Hazel, competing just two weeks after achieving the Olympic A standard for heptathlon in Ratingen, Germany finished fourth in 100m hurdles final, in a season’s best 13.32. Danny Talbot, finished fifth in the 200m final, in a time of 21.06 seconds.
