Shane Williams signs up with Welsh Rugby TV

Behind the scenes with Wales’ all-time leading try scorer, exclusive content for Welsh rugby fans. 25 Feb 2010

Just days before Wales’ RBS Six Nations match against France, the new online welshrugby.tv channel has secured an exclusive agreement with Shane Williams to be a regular contributor.

The South Wales based online subscription tv venture welshrugby.tv which already boasts Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas as a presenter, has signed up Shane Williams to appear each week in its The Real Rugby Show series, giving viewers a real ‘behind the scenes‘ look at the lifestyle of an internationally renowned rugby player – right in the middle of the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

welshrugby.tv has been created to deliver insight on the real stories in Welsh rugby for Welsh rugby supporters worldwide – with independent comment from a host of top players as well as now, with regular input and insight from Shane.

First selected for Wales in 2000 and part of the Grand Slam winning teams of 2005 and 2008, the diminutive winger now boasts 70 caps for Wales and rates one of his highest achievements as becoming Wales’ all-time leading try scorer in the Grand Slam winning 2008 Six Nations campaign, in the final match against France – securing his selection as the IRB International Player of the Year.

Shane said: “I am really pleased to be working with Welsh rugby TV and take the opportunity to give a real insight into behind the scenes of life as a player! Welsh rugby fans are so passionate about the game, so it’s nice to be able to get involved in this new venture.

“I have some great memories of playing against France, making my debut 10 years ago was a massive occasion and becoming Wales leading try scorer in 2008 against France again, was special! So I’m really looking forward to the game tomorrow night, you never know it would be great to score my 50th try for Wales!”

As a regular guest, the wizard winger is keen to share with fans not only the inside track on the lifestyle of an elite player, but also stories about the game in Wales and his experiences. The welshrugby.tv site provides the Welsh rugby supporter with a unique combination of the latest rugby news, professional and creative video content, independent analysis and opinion, and will always ask the crunch questions – delivering rugby in the raw.
