Tasha Danvers nominated for European Athlete Commission

Election for prestigious role to take place at European Championships. 15 June 2010

Olympic bronze medallist Tasha Danvers has been nominated for a role on the prestigious European Athletics Athlete Commission alongside 14 past and present starts of the sport including; Decathlon superstar Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic and reigning Olympic Heptathlon champion Nataliya Dobrynska of the Ukraine.

Commenting on the announcement, she said:

“I am proud to be nominated by UKA for the European Athletics Athlete Commission; it would be an honour to represent my fellow athletes in the GB team.

“I hope to get the full support of my team mates in the election at the European Athletics Championships, so I better start my campaign now!”

Tasha was nominated by UKA and accepted by European Athletics based on her impressive athletics career, which spans over a decade, and services to the sport through work with grassroots athletics schemes including the Aviva UKA Academy.

The commission, which is elected every four years, is currently chaired by Swedish high jump star Stefan Holm and Mikaela Ingberg of Finland and also includes World triple jump record holder Jonathan Edwards in the position of European Athletics Council liaison.

The election for the term 2010-2014 will take place during the European Athletics Championships to be held in Barcelona between July 26 and 1 August.
