Tasha Danvers targets Commonwealths

100 days to go until Delhi host 2010 Games. 25 June 2010

Olympic Bronze medallist Tasha Danvers has confirmed that she will not compete at this summer’s European Championships, but will instead set her sights on competing at the Commonwealth Games in October.

Friday 25 June marks 100 days to go until the Commonwealth Games, Tasha took Silver in the 400m Hurdles four years ago at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Tasha, now based at Lee Valley Performance Centre has confirmed that her schedule is now geared towards this year’s Commonwealth Games.

She will not be competing at the Aviva European Trials and National Championships in Birmingham this weekend, she said:

“Following a frustrating 2009 affected by injury, I am determined to get back to my best but that has to be done with a focus on what’s best to achieve longer term goals and that means missing the European Champs.

“London 2012 is a massive motivation for me and I’m certainly not done yet! I have been through a lot of changes over the last 18 months, now I’m back in London which is my home town.

“I have decided that unfortunately the European Championships just come too early for me, so I’m aiming for the Commonwealths and will be back racing soon.”
